P25 will be required in 2010

This is an alert to our customers of the upcoming requirements for all interagency wildfire and DOI aviation contracts and possible equipment shortages. We want to help you to be proactive regarding these upcoming contract requirements and associated issues.

There is a limited amount of time before 2010 when contracted aircraft will be required to have P25 compliant digital radios. It appears that the number of aircraft that need these FM tactical radios exceeds the production capabilities of the manufacturers.
Aircraft without P25 compliant FM tactical radios will not be able to meet the contract requirements in 2010. In spite of rumors, there will be no extensions to the 2010 requirement. Please click here to see the technical bulletin 08-01 issued by Interagency Aviation.

Currently, lead times for some FM tactical radios is as far as August 2009 for orders placed today.

FMesales has radios in stock and we are working hard to maintain stock of P25 compliant tactical FM radios so that you can stay in business. We will have difficulty keeping up with the demand of these contracted aircraft over the next 17 months. FMesales wants to help you stay in business. In addition...your current analog FM radios will not be able to be used for interagency wildfire and DOI aviation contracts after 2009. The market value of these radios is predicted to drop based on supply and demand. The time is now to recoup as much value from your old FM radios as you can. FMesales can help your business sell these radios on consignment only until December 2009.
